We can’t say exactly what Piko means, it’s more of a way of life and a relational understanding. Like a belly button, Piko speaks to the very start of life, the umbilical cord that nourishes a child in the womb. It’s a connection to our ancestors, our parents, and our future generations. It is the source of our health and a link to the land. This name was given to us for all those reasons, and because it represents our dedication to rebuilding and rejuvenating connections and honoring our community every step of the way.
