Our story began in 2014, when our founder Lucas fell for shrubs while bartending after college. He loved using seasonal ingredients but found it difficult to rely on them for cocktail menus. After experimenting with different preservation methods, Lucas decided shrubs were the perfect vehicle for using local ingredients year-round. He began sourcing fruits from San Diego farms and other quality purveyors, combining them with organic apple cider vinegar and different herbs and botanicals he loved using behind the bar, with an emphasis on health and wellness. Many test batches and drinks later, Lucas launched his unique line of shrubs that are fresh, complex, and bursting with flavor. The brand is an ode to his college nickname, a reminder of simpler times and lazy mornings at the Santa Barbara farmers market.
