Mālama Mushrooms began as a small mushroom farm in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii where founder (& funguy) Benjamin began growing the first fruits of the project utilizing an empty lava-formed cave on his friends farm and selling gourmet mushrooms to his local community. When Benjamin realized his strength was in product development & education, he pivoted to focus on sourcing the highest quality USDA organic mushrooms and creating easy-to-use everyday products that integrate seamlessly into busy lives. 'Mālama' is Hawaiian for protect, preserve, & nurture. This serves as the standard for all the work that we do!
